1. NAMUSHASHA LODGE
The Namushasha Lodge is part of the Gondwana collection. They have a strong connection with nature and surrounding communities in Namibia.
It is located in the Zambezi region. This region is home to Namibia's most unspoiled waterways and wetlands. The beauty of nature surrounds the Namushaha Lodge, a romantic place for adventure. When you arrive in this magical lodge, you can hear the hippos grunting, the birds singing, and the calming sound of reed frogs. Dinner is served on a wooden roof with a river view, adding a stunning wildlife scene while eating.
When we arrived, we decided to do a boat cruise with snacks & drinks immediately. Our guide was Mister John, and John has a lot of know-how. We spotted a lot of hippos along our boat trip. This is the animal I'm afraid of the most because it has the highest death rate among humans. However, John's knowledge makes you feel safe passing these animals. A hippo is very fast and territorial, so you need to keep some distance. We've been charged a lot of times. So be aware and enjoy the adventure.
We signed up for a Champagne safari the following day, which we recommend. John was our guide again, and we couldn't be happier. We stumbled upon an abundance of wildlife in the Bwabwata national park. You can also choose to do a self-guided safari here, but occasionally, we could gain some additional skills if we opt for a guided one. After seeing various antelopes, we bumped into a pack of wild dogs and their babies. After 2 hours of driving through the park, Mister Johns stops at a magnificent location and prepares your breakfast. Later he will open a bottle of bubbles and show you more of the Bwabwata national park. This is the place we saw a leopard for the first. I'll never forget that moment!
One night here costs around 240 euros.
2. HAKUSEMBE RIVER LODGE
The Hakusembe river lodge is also part of the Gondwana collection. It's always nice to stay where they invest in the community and the wildlife.
This lodge is located at Angola's border in the Kavango region and is the ideal lodge to take a break from your drive from Etosha to the Caprivi strip. It's a refreshing place with a green lawn, big trees, and a large variety of birdlife. The sparkling river and charming wooded chalets are perfect for relaxing and reflecting on your trip. Those with a lot of energy left can jump into the pool in the dreamy garden, stroll to the Mbunza cultural village, enter the Hakusembe riverboat, or go fishing!
Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, but don't let it fool you. It's super tasty! They also serve lunch à la carte. The restaurant has a stunning view at the foot of the river. The staff is amiable.
One night here costs around 240 euros.
The Gondwana collection offers many more lodges, but we only stayed in these two and the Chobe river lodge. You can find more lodges of the Gondwana collection here.
Love,
Mimi
